Be Barbie for Halloween

A Cute and Sexy Halloween Makeup Idea
If you’ve been following our big Halloween costume debate over on Glamour.com, you know that most of us fall into one of two costume camps: We go either super-cute or hella-sexy. But I’ve got a costume idea that will work on both sides of the style divide: Barbie! There was a ton of Barbie beauty inspiration on the fall runways this season since Babs celebrated the 5-0 this year—and to think, thanks to the plastic skin, faux hair and saucer-size eyes of hers, she doesn’t look a day over 21! To DIY Barbie’s signature über-feminine beauty look—the kind Paris Hilton always seems to be sporting—celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman suggests starting with your eyes. “Dust silver shadow over the whole lid from lashes to brows and add an extra dab to the inner corners, right by the tear duct. Add a sweep of a purple-gray shadow to the crease of the eyelid, then use a felt-tip eyeliner and lightly dot on the lid, staying as close as possible to the lash line. Go back over the lid once more, and this time, press the felt tip firmly onto the skin to ‘connect the dots,’ fanning the line up and out toward the temples on the ends.” Finish off your pastel eye makeup look with bright pink cheeks and lips. Slip on a tight bubblegum-pink minidress and your night of trick-or-treating will be extra sweet. - GLAMOUR MAGAZINETuesday, September 29, 2009
If You Buy Only One New Beauty Product This Fall, Make It This
Yes, I know that seems like a dramatic declaration, but really, who doesn’t love a gorgeous pink lipstick? It’s one of the most universally flattering makeup looks out there, and like its cousin red lipstick, it can glam up an outfit in seconds. Celebs are already in on this beauty secret: I’ve seen more fuchsia lip looks at fashion shows and awards shows this fall than ever before. So why the hot pink? Makeup artist Anetta Klemens tells me that the new lip trend is all about “brightening up and looking more alive”—a grin-and-bear-it response to this tough and wacky year. The trick to pulling off a sexy pink lipstick like Mischa Barton’s (who, by the way, is wearing Nars Lipstick in Funny Face semi-matte fuchsia in this snap) is to go easy on the eye makeup. Just stick to a neutral shadow and add a few coats of mascara. Another good trick? Try bronzer instead of blush. When you restrict the pink hue to your pretty smile, it’ll make your bold lip look stand out even more. If the straight-from-the-tube color seems too bright for you, try blotting it down gently to create more of a stain, then finish with clear lip gloss. -Glamours Andrea Pomerantz Lustig

Summer Accessory Must....Nails!
As nail polish has evolved over time, from being a saucy accessory that only bad girls dared to wear, to becoming staple in even the most conservative social circles, women have experimented with some crazy color combinations.
Gone are the days of the simple French manicure and demure pinks and neutrals: today’s trends scream “look at me!”

Gone are the days of the simple French manicure and demure pinks and neutrals: today’s trends scream “look at me!”
A fresh manicure and pedicure is an absolute must before stepping out to party here in the Big Apple. Summer’s hottest trends are being spotted everywhere on celebrities, socialites, and on the New York City girl walking down the street.

Check out recent fashion mags to find your perfect summer shade before you head in for your next appointment!
