The New York Rangers have officially claimed Sean Avery off re-entry waivers.
As part of the collective bargaining agreement, Avery's former team, the Stars, will pay half his salary for the remaining three years of the deal. It is unclear how coach John Tortorella will use Avery - remember Tortorella blasted the shift-disturber earlier this season and called him an "embarassment" to the game.
