Happy Birthday JRL

So, from all our blogging days... which once started as a random scroll on facebook to now a funny friendship...We would love to wish Justin Ross Lee a Happy "lie flat" Birthday!

We just received the invite for his birthday celebration, it states :
You’ve been carefully selected to attend a birthday celebration in the 'Chai' Honor of Justin Ross Lee. This is a private event and any guests must be pre-approved. Cocktails/ snacks will be available and served by dusty antiquated flight attendants. Justin’s consigliere Drew Carlton Di Risi has provided his abode to be covered in JewJuice for several hours on XXXat X:00 PM. Join your Jewnoxious host Justin Ross Lee as he showcases his Puerto Rican tan and kinship for life at the expense of others.

- We will obviously take photos of this event and report back to you. We can only imagine what is in store for us if it's New York Bad Boys Birthday!

**Details of the party have been removed for Justin's privacy

There is something posh about it

With Spring finally here, why not lop off those lovely locks and donate them!
Short haircuts are in my friend, and if you need an idea for a haircut….pick up a copy of Celebrity Hairstyles.
I personally loved the retired VB cut, it’s so out done it’s vintage now!
I brought this pic to my hairstylist Paula:

And this is the cut she gave me: ( I suck at styling hair, don't judge)

You can donate in 3 easy steps:

Hair Donation: Step One
Choose your charity to donate your hair to. You'll find a lot of options and you might pick based on who the charity helps. Or just on the amount of hair you have to give. But do your homework and choose wisely, based on why you want to donate.

Hair Donation: Step Two
Grow your hair to the required length. This means taking care of your hair and yourself so it's as healthy as possible. Remember, hair only grows about half an inch a month, so this is quite a commitment!

Hair Donation: Step Three
Make the cut!! You can do it at home or have your stylist do it for you. Just be sure to follow all the directions given by your chosen charity. If you don't, they might not be able to use it and all your hard work (and heart) will have been for nothing.

Places to Donate:
Pantene Beautiful Lengths: http://www.beautifullengths.com/en_US/
Wigs for Kids: http://www.wigsforkids.org/
Locks of Love : www.locksoflove.org
AND IF YOU HAVE HIGHLIGHTED HAIR LIKE MOI
Children with hairloss : http://www.childrenwithhairloss.us/

**Or if you can't commit to chopping those locks (or if you are a guy) you can always have a few less drinks at the bar this weekend and donate as little as a dollar to help fight childrens cancer. Its as easy as clicking the link....

Budget Dining: The Shake Shack

It's Friday- the skies are blue, the air is warm, the sun is shining and I'm hungry! Escape the office and head over to The Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. It is located on the corner of 23rd Street and Madison Ave and is a fantastic choice is you are looking for good food at a good price (while enjoying this BEAUTIFUL weather we have today!). Since the line does get pretty long (an average 15 minute wait) and all food is cooked fresh (another 15 minute wait), you may want to head on over there after work with friends to try one of their famous Shack Burgers($4.38) , Chicago Dogs($2.77) , Cheese fries($2.08), and for my fellow vegetarians- the 'shroom burger(4.15). Order a freshly made iced tea($1.38) or lemonade($1.85) or start of your night with The Shake Shacks selection of beer and wine. With all items on the menu under 6 dollars, my wallet stays really happy! If you have a pup- bring her over to the Shake Shack with you and order her a Pooch-ini ($2.54) made with frozen custard, peanut butter and a dog biscuit. De-lish!

A puppy enjoys a Poochini!

Shopping for a cause

Too much or not enough?

There has been recent media buzz over the appropriateness of Ciara and Justin Timberlake's steamy new video for "Love, Sex, Magic". Some feel that the video is too racy and inappropriate for airing on network television, while others think that these people are overreacting. What do we think? Too much Ciara, not enough Justin. Check out the video below and let us know what you think!

Blake Lively on The Late Show

Blake Lively from "Gossip Girl" was on "The Late Show" last night with David Letterman. We love Gossip Girl, we love Serena, but Blake...could you be more awkward?
Disney Prison, threesomes...you sound like a bad version of well Justin Ross Lee, but less funny and more awkward!

Chairty Spotlight: NeverQuit

We asked Jay Goldman, Co-Founder of NeverQuit Enterprises, Inc. about his Charity NeverQuit. Please read about Jay and NeverQuit and reach out to him to volunteer to help his amazing organization.

Jay with Super Bowl XXI Champion George Martin of the New York Giants.

Never Quit Mission Statement:
To educate, inspire, and empower people today for a better tomorrow.

As good as its guests: What is NeverQuit is about, what you stand for, and what you do for the community?
Jay Goldman: Our company is solely dedicated to bringing education, inspiration and empowerment to those in need. We do this in several different ways:
First, I have been speaking for years for Non-For-Profit companies at recruitment events trying to get people within the community involved in volunteer work. Some organizations I have spoken for have been The U.S.A. Freedom Corps, The Make a Wish Foundation, Cross-Cultural Solutions, and the Building Bridges Collation. I have never nor will I ever charge for these services.
Second, I have been speaking for years at local youth groups and civic organizations to teenagers. Our program is called "Never Quit" and I touch on many issues from living a life of meaning, to not using drugs and alcohol, to goal reaching, to having self confidence, to leadership workshops.
Third, We are currently working on a book called "Never Quit" which we hope to have out by this summer. It will contain 10-12 Never Quit stories from normal everyday people who have done extraordinary things. We will feature stories from people who have overcome cancer, women who have had the strength to get out of an abusive relationship, to people living with disabilities but who are living a healthy and fulfilling lives, and people who have overcome an alcohol or drug addiction. It is our hope that if someone is going through a similar situation maybe they can find strength in reading a story from someone just like them who were able to overcome the hardships in their life. Hopefully the reader can see it doesn't take superhuman strength to do something superhuman.
Fourth, We organize volunteer events for our community. For example, if there is a charity walk we try to get as many people to participate in the event as possible and we all walk under the Never Quit name. We have found that people are more inclined to participate in an event if other people are their with them, so that way we give a group of people a common mission instead of one. This is actually a BIG initiative for this year. We would like to get 1,000 volunteers to come with us to volunteer events in the 2009 calendar year! It's going to take some work but I truly believe that we can make this happen!

Jay at one of his motivational workshops

AGAIG: What are NeverQuits accomplishments so far? How have you helped? Who have you helped? and where has this process taken you?
JG: Please keep in mind that we are a relatively new company and plan on doing much more in the future. I also have a "regular" day job where I work 40+ hours a week for an investment bank. I am also going back to school at night to become an RN because I hate my day job lol. Thank God I have NeverQuit which brings me happiness and balance in my life. So far it has taking me to some pretty amazing places and I have experienced some pretty cool things from going after my passion.
*I was a New York State Emergency Medical Technician and volunteer for 6 years and received an accommodation for my rescue work on 9/11/2001. I was only 19 years old.
*In 2006 I went to Brazil and volunteered in a Children's HIV/AIDS orphanage for two weeks. This was the single most profound experience in my life and it changed my life in may ways. If you would like more information about how just let me know. I am not going to go into it now because once i start talking about it I can go on forever lol.
*In 2007 I was awarded The Call to Service, Presidential Volunteer Service Award by the President of The United States. There are four levels of the award and I received the top honor at 25 when most receive it after a lifetime of volunteer service. I am very proud of this accomplishment and it was an exciting moment for me.
*In 2007 I was invited by the United Nations and The USA Freedom Corps to speak at The White House, in Washington DC for International Volunteer Day 2007. I was asked to speak at the event and share how volunteer work, both national and international has impacted my life.
*In 2007 I was asked by The Building Bridges Collation to deliver a speech in Philadelphia in front of Independence Hall to launch their Non-Profit Organization and the website www.idealist.org/
*In 2007 and 2008 I was asked to speak at The American Motivation Awards in Manhattan. It is an award show that honors the nations most outstanding Motivational people. Both years I was asked to deliver a key note speech and present an award.
*In 2008 I was featured in an article in the New York Daily News. The article was written to feature a volunteer from the NY area and encourage others to volunteer.
* I appeared on 106.1 WBLI (a Long Island Radio Station) on March 4th to discuss NeverQuit.

AGAIG: How can our readers help in their communities ?
JG: Please visit our Myspace Page at www.myspace.com/myneverquit or e-mail us at myneverquit@gmail.com to find out about upcoming volunteer opportunities. We would like get people involved in their communities by volunteering with us at our upcoming events. It would also be a huge help in helping us reach our goal of 1,000 NeverQuit volunteers for 2009. Please put in the subject line "I want to help others".
We also have a section in our blog on the NeverQuit myspace where people can look for volunteer opportunities. You can also go to the website www.idealist.org/ and can find volunteer opportunities.

Jay (far right) at the 2007 American Motivational Awards

We would like to thank Jay for taking time out of his busy schedule to share with us his extraordinary accomplishments. We encourage you all to do your part and reach out to Jay and volunteer in your communities.

She's got your crazy!

Project Runway Finalist, Kenley Collins was accused of using her cat as a weapon during an argument with her ex-fiance, Zak Penley. Penley told authorities that Collins woke him up by throwing her kitty in his face. (Sounds kinky!) Collins, of course, denies these accusations saying she "gently" tossed her feline friend onto the bed. She has no excuses for the laptop, apple and water toss that followed. Talk about a cat fight!

What is with all these crazy women making headlines these days? Clean it up ladies, you are giving us girls a bad rep!!

Spotted: Brad Pitt in Huntington

Back in February, As good as its guests reported that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were moving to the Sassafras Estate, nearby our home town in Huntington, Long Island while Angelia films her new movie "Salt". We also told you we would let you know if there were any Brangelina sightings in the area and there were! Brad Pitt was seen buying a few slices at DiRaimo's Pizza, one of our hometown Pizzeria's. Newsday and Life & Style magazine reported on the sighting and got to speak with owner Steve DiRaimo for the details. Brangelina was also seen dining at Bistro Cassis on Wall Street in Huntington Village. I have been visiting home the past few weekends to escape the city and have noticed a growing number of out-of-towners at our local bars- all hoping to catch a peak of Hollywood's "It" couple. Maybe we will be lucky enough to run into the twosome and their clan of kiddie's...

They Say I'm Crazy...I Got Your Crazy

Crazy news stories involving crazy people who just may make your Tuesday at work seem not so bad after all:

Airport stops women with human remains in suitcase: The headline says it all- except the part where airport security allowed the women to board the plane with the skull and bones found in the suitcase. Apparently the 11 year old remains of the man inside were being taken to their final resting place in Italy. Isn't that what cremation is for?

Cops: Wife handcuffs husband so they can talk: 37-year-old Helen Sun was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and unlawful restraint. Why? because she handcuffed herself to her husband while he slept so she could talk to him without him walking away. Guys- next time you think your girlfriend is crazy, be happy you're not waking up with your bedroom doors locks changed, chained to the crazy girl. Helen Sun-Thank you for making 80% of the girls in NYC look completely sane.

Work on apartment, get free funeral: A NYC funeral director is offering a free funeral to the person who fixes up his apartment. I get that economic times are hard but this this "deal to die for" is weird. The again- it's an ad on craigslist- noteworthy? sure...but I've come across weirder.

Hope you found those articles a little entertaining-now get back to work!

Walk of Shame

The Walk of Shame- it happens to even the classiest the ladies. What's a girl to do when she innocently falls asleep (cough cough: has too much to drink : cough cough) and ends up crashing at a guy's apartment with nothing but last nights outfit to go home in? Well, you are in luck ladies! The Walk of Shame Kit fits easily in your purse and contains a cotton dress, flip flops, a pre-pasted tooth brush, sunglasses to cover those raccoon eyes, clean wipes and a "Call/Do Not Call" note card to leave your late night lover. The kit also contains a breast cancer awareness bracelet and a portion of the proceeds are donated on your behalf to a breast cancer foundation. That means being prepared for your skanky classy late night decision helps you and a great cause! I really wish I had this kit handy when I stumpled out of an ex's apartment in a pink bunny costume, silver stilletos and an oversized men's sweatshirt with a tail popping out of the back. Did I mention this was on a sunday...the week BEFORE halloween? Ouch!

Dennis Rodman on Celebrity Apprentice

Season 2 of Celebrity Apprentice has recently aired.  This season it is the MEN vs. THE WOMEN. Oh how we love reality TV based in New York, with absolutely no climax or story line.
Well, one of your favorite bloggers may be on the next episode. Jessi happened to cross paths with a comedic Dennis Rodman. Check out a sneak peak:

Make sure to watch:
Sunday, March 15th Special time! 10/9c
Tom Green's men's team squares off against Brande and the women in a battle for the brides—this week's task is selling wedding dresses. (TV-PG L)

Who are you Jessica Hart

So, while reading the Post...and watching the city...and passing the newsstand...and going out...everything is JESSICA HART!
Well, we started thinking...who are you Jessica Hart?
Well the NY Post gives us a little insiders guide:
Jessica Hart, 22, is about to become world famous—but she's still got a lot on her mind. For instance, the Guess model (and Vogue Australia cover girl) just moved from Nolita to a much larger apartment in Tribeca, and yet, she says, "The area kind of sucks. There's nothing going on." Still, the quieter 'hood may mean fewer of the paparazzi who are likely to populate her future: Come Tuesday, when Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue hits stands featuring a sexy pictorial of her inside, Aussie fashionistas won't be the only ones murmuring her name. "I just can't wait to see it. Or maybe I can," she frets. Jessica's been headed toward the big time after she won a Melbourne modeling competition at age 14, since collecting best pal and fellow Aussie catwalker Miranda Kerr as well as rocker boyfriend Nicolas Potts (co-founder, with Whitney Port squeeze Jay Lyon, of the band Tamarama). Still, she's anxious about appearing in upcoming episodes of MTV's The City, which spotlights their relationship. "I'm definitely not looking forward to that coming out," she says. "I don't want to hate it and be like, 'What were you thinking?' " She's worried too about keeping her love alive, given the couple's "full-throttle" careers. And then there's that spread of her on the beach in Mexico. "In Australia, [SI's swimsuit issue] is not as big of a deal as it is here," says Jessica. "That makes me nervous." And we thought we had problems.

But yet we still want to know more
Give us your Hart,
As good as its guests

Party Venue List for Birthdays in New York

PARTY VENUE LIST

49 GROVE
Location: West Village
Venue Type: Bar
Music: Dance, House, Top 40, Rock, 80s
Vibe: You want your birthday party to be just that: “YOUR!”birthday party. And that means ditching the after-work cocktail crowd, and finding a spot that is all about you and your guests, and specifically a spot that doesn’t shoot dirty looks when you start popping bottles or singing happy birthday. Enter 49 Grove, an upscale lounge that brings a perfect mix of class, style, intimacy and revelry to the New York party scene. Voted Best Lounge of 2008 By CitySearch for its comfort, service and ambiance 49 Grove is the perfect place for “YOUR!”

ASPEN DOWNTOWN
Location: Flatiron District
Venue Type: Restaurant/Lounge
Music: Hip-Hop, Rock, 80's
Vibe: Many times, a party results in hazy confusion as to where exactly you are when you wake up (not to mention who’s snoring next to you). In this case, the confusion may start before the haze. A gorgeous mountain getaway (minus the mountain) in New York’s FlatIron district, Greg Brier (Groovejet) and NYC nightlife vet, designer Steve Lewis (Limelight, Marquee) combined talents to pull off the faux-escape Aspen provides. Whether the party you’re planning is a peaceful midweek gathering or a weekend no-holds-barred
ASPEN SOCIAL CLUB
Location: Midtown West
Venue Type: Bar
Music: Hip-Hop, Rock, 80's
Vibe: Aspen Social Club channels the same lodge-like atmosphere of its Flatiron sister establishment (Aspen), with a bit more flair for eye-catching. Midtown’s version of the Colorado getaway for private and birthday parties, Aspen Social Club is a perfect spot to pretend you’re out of New York for just long enough to miss drunken arguments with the homeless.
Spot: This futuristic snowy-white and wood cabin

BAR 13
Location: East Village
Venue Type: Bar
Music: Hip Hop Rock and 80s
Vibe:Up the stairs and around the way we go. Bar 13 should scare some away with the unlucky number embedded in the title, but oh contraire, it does the exact opposite. Flocks of booze loving singles and collegiate super-stars occupy this three floor drinking destination that takes pride in its super cool "rooftop bar." Space could get a little tight, so make sure to have your dancing shoes on because moving may be tough and shaking ya groove thang is very necessary. A bar that stands true to its colors and appreciates the novelty of a birthday party, Bar 13 is a solid pick for some downtown
BAR TWELVE
Location: Murray Hill
Venue Type: Bar
Music: Hip-Hop, Rock, 80's
Vibe: You would never insult your team by catching only their Sportcenter highlights, but you’d never insult your friends by throwing a less than legendary birthday party. So what’s the solution when your birthday party falls on the same night as your team’s big game? New York City’s Bar Twelve, where you get sports, big beats, and, of course, a good drinking atmosphere (beer pong encouraged), all under one roof (they only ask you take a shower and leave your jersey and sweat pants at home).Barna @ Hotel Giraffe
Location: Murray Hill
Venue Type: Bar
Music: Hip Hop, Rock, 80's
Vibe: If you want your party fast, flamboyant, and a bit European, this is your stop. Located in the basement of Hotel Giraffe, the crowd is a mix of posh European hotel guests and New York City’s Euro-influenced club goers, and the vibe finds a balance of fashion, inebriation, and class.
Spot: With cinderblock archways
Boucarou
Location: East Village
Venue Type: Bar
Music: House, Hip Hop, Rock, 80's
Vibe: Birthday parties are a great time to ditch Brooklyn, plaid, and copious amounts of PBR for something a little swankier. Enter New York City’s Boucarou, where the atmosphere’s so classy you’ll forget you’re supposed to act like you’re unimpressed.
Spot: The Lower East Side’s venue for comfortable innovation,Country Club
Location: Meatpacking District
Venue Type: Bar
Music: Hip Hop, Rock, 80's
Vibe: Despite its namesake, don’t expect to have your birthday party ruined by your grandfather sipping brandy and flirting with your girlfriend. Do expect to find beautiful mahogany siding, sexy cocktail waitresses in the smallest tennis skirts you’ve ever seen, and New York City’s perfect hotspot to make your birthday bumpin.
