W girls Opportunity Rocks Bachelor/ette Auction

Get ready for one of the most anticipated events of the Spring charity season.  TONIGHT, the WGIRLSNYC are hosting the Opportunity Rocks” Bachelor/ette Auction to support the Opportunity Network’s valuable programming. Over 500 NYC young professionals will gather to mix and mingle at M2 Ultra Lounge to cheer on the lucky bachelor/ettes, and celebrate the start of summer!

Don’t miss your chance to bid on one of NYC’s most attractive and popular singles.  This year’s group includes JR from MTV’s reality TV series “The City”.

The W girls will also be auctioning of AGAIG's favorite celeb: Justin Ross Lee

If you’re not into bidding on the auction, you can try your luck at the raffle, which includes such prizes as an overnight stays at the London and Giraffe Hotels, lingerie baskets, spa certificates, dinners, and more!

The main focus of this year’s fundraising is the Opportunity Network. The Opportunity Network is a career development program that creates access for high-performing but underserved public high school students to circles of influence in society.

Networking is consistently cited as the number one way to get a new job. But in the current job market it is difficult for experienced, “connected” professionals to get ahead, let alone young people starting out.

This event will also help to fund Harlem RBI’s youth sports.

Help us support the well-being of local youth, and have an amazing time doing it!

The Details:

Where: M2 Ultra Lounge | 530 W 28th St. New York, NY

When: Thursday, May 28th from 7–11 pm

Why: To raise funds and awareness for The Opportunity Network and Harlem RBI

Hamptons Days and Montauk Nights

AGAIG’s Hamptons arm had a busy yet exceptionally fun long weekend scuttling all over the East End for the inaugural weekend of summer!

While “headquarters”(aka our beautiful share house with an ocean view) is located in Montauk we trekked everywhere from Water Mill to South Hampton to Amagansett soaking in as many Memorial Day weekend festivities as we could squeeze out of our collection of wedges and brightly-patterned maxi dresses.

Sunday evening at the Surf Lodge was definitely the highlight of the weekend. Alexandra Richards spun an eclectic mix of music in her ubiquitous cutoff denim shorts that had bodies dancing all over the front bar area, back porch and everywhere in between. Theodora Richards and Eliza Dushku danced feverishly by her side while Sam Talbot, Kristian Laliberte, Tory Burch and other socialite types did laps before committing to a location.

Stavros Niarchos
spent a considerable part of the evening making out with an uber-thin mystery blond on a beach chair before joining the dance party.

FRIDAY, May 22

Friday night we kept it low key and local, dancing away the evening at Montauk pub the Point. The music was circa mid-1990’s and we liked it. Almost as much as our new BFF who stood out amongst the sea of Polos, jumpers and white tank tops in a full tuxedo.

SATURDAY, May 23

Saturday was spent almost entirely at two of the crown jewels of the eastern most point of Long Island: the beach and Stephen Talk House.

The afternoon was blessed with beautiful bright sunshine that allowed us to bust out our new candy-colored bikinis despite our iphones insisting that there were currently “light showers” in Montauk. They might want to look into that. We took those rays for all they were worth before we ordered enough fish tacos from 668 on Main St. to make us their new best friend.

The Stephen Talk House in Amagansett, where we spent Saturday evening, is a must-do. Kelly Bensimon of Real Housewives of New York “fame ”agrees. Kelly spent most of the evening jumping about wildly in her curve-hugging white T shirt in a ”if you are not yet paying attention to me, well, you should be” way but took a break to ask me to snap a picture of her and her friends on her BlackBerry.

Next time I will take a longer break from my own dance party (the live band was playing favorites like American Girl so I had bigger fish to fry...like dancing on a bench with my new friend John from Memphis) and ask her what her secret is to running through the streets of Manhattan with her hair down in the middle of traffic.

SUNDAY, May 24

Sunday morning brought Real Housewives run-in #2: while we were out getting breakfast from the Bake Shop in town, we encountered Bethenny Frankel and an unidentified (yet handsome) brown haired gentleman in front of the visiting craft fair tents. If I had not been so focused on my egg white wrap I might have remembered to tell her that Kelly said hello.

While the gray skies circa noon on Sunday were rather foreboding, we piled in for a road trip anyways. Final destination: a house party in Water Mill that turned out to be straight from a 1980’s teen movie, with a Hamptons twist, of course.

The outdoor bash was sponsored by Red Bull and featured musical stylings from band Rubix Cube, who provided multiple costume changes and a multi-platform performance. Literally. The lead singer jumped from roof to roof and even sang while up to his neck in the pool.

The band, a regular in the Hamptons private party circle, plays mostly 80’s music sprinkled with party-pleasers like the Killers, which led to a raucous dance party in various states of undress. Other festivities included an impromptu limbo contest, an outdoor beer pong tournament and boys jumping from the roof (and kegs) into the pool. Someone even started a trend of taking shots through the Noodles, those foam tubes that seem to be must-have accessories for any pool worth its weight in water.

We capped off the day with a spectacular dinner of baked clams, lobster ravioli and chocolate covered strawberry trees (just try them, we promise) at Aqua East in Montauk.

Best part: hardly a cloud in the sky after the morning fog shrugged off.

MONDAY, May 25

We spent the morning at the beach before heading back to the city and back to reality.

*There may or may not have also been a pit stop at Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton on the drive home for some double-scoop ice cream cones. Apparently we stare bravely in the face of the prospect of being back in a bathing suit in four days.

Can’t wait for next weekend, see you out East!

XOXO

A new way to pay interns...

"We may be in a recession, but this year's batch of Crispin Porter & Bogusky interns will be getting fatter paychecks. Not that the agency itself will be funding the pay increases for the 40 young talents who will slog away in its Miami and Boulder, Colo., offices on accounts such as "Guitar Hero" and Burger King. Rather, Crispin has launched an eBay auction for their services.

On-again, off-again Twitterer and top Crispin creative Alex Bogusky (whose real handle is @bogusky, not to be confused with @bogusbogusky and @bogusalex) announced the auction this morning via a tweet. The bidding began at $1 and as of this post had already climbed to $5,400.

"The interns only make minimum wage, so we thought this would be a great way to augment that," Mr. Bogusky said in an e-mail. "They're excited about that."

The winning bidder will receive a "creative presentation" developed by Crispin's interns in a three-month period, consisting of strategies, recommended brand positioning and concepts. What the bidder won't get is production services or any finished advertising materials. Travel and any other out-of-pocket expenses for the interns aren't included either.

It seems a bit counterintuitive to farm out your own talent, but Mr. Bogusky said he doesn't really see it that way. Each year, the interns work for Crispin clients, but a portion of their time is carved out to work on special assignments that are typically pro bono. Now they'll just work on this instead. "It would be great if the high bidder is a cause-related thing," Mr. Bogusky said.

Who isn't welcome? The likes of Pizza Hut and Philip Morris. The fine print on the online auction page states that Crispin, which works for Domino's, "reserves the right to decline services in the event of a conflict with any of our existing clients or for any other reason (like if you sell cigarettes) in our sole discretion."- Ad Age

Love 21 - Forever 21's new line

"Love 21 promises "sophisticated style at a price you can't pass up," and comes to us just weeks after the launch of Faith 21, the fast-fashion chain's plus size line.

Although details about Love 21 are sparse, I'm assuming the collection will be targeted at women in their 20s and 30s, which is really exciting news! After all, if you're just starting out in the real world, you don't have a lot of disposable income. Mommy and Daddy aren't there to help out. Bills, college loans, etc. are very real.

All I'm saying is we 20- and 30-somethings definitely need affordable fashion that fits our lifestyles. Let's hope hems are longer and that there's more office appropriate attire in this Love 21 collection, too!" - The Budget Babe

Matt Abramcyk and Sean Avery open Warren 77

"Over the weekend, nightlife entrepreneur Matt Abramcyk (The Beatrice Inn, Employees Only) opened a sports tavern called Warren 77- located, believe it or not, on 77 Warren Street. Matt’s partner in this venture is none other than NY Rangers winger Sean Avery, who has the distinction of being the first NHL player to be a guest editor at Vogue.* Those wishing to see if Sean’s superior fashion sense is evident in the bar’s décor will have to check the place out for themselves, which shouldn’t be too difficult since Matt Abramcyk has stated that Warren 77 is meant to be neighborhood place, not an über-exclusive hipster den (not Abramcyk’s words) like The Beatrice Inn."- Martin for Joonbug

I'm sorry..Camel Toe what?

I apologize (not at all) for anyone who may own the shoes pictured above or anything resembling that fashion nightmare but WHAT DRUG WAS THE PERSON ON WHO THOUGHT OF THESE SHOES? I remember seeing this picture in a gossip mag a few months back and laughed it off thinking "ah, celebrities trying to bring in a style NO average person will ever wear" and it really seemed that way until this morning. I was riding on the dimly lit, entirely too stuffy V train and sat myself across from a row of what appeared to be stylish 20-something girls. One was wearing classic rayban wayfarers and boots, the next a more modern pointy wayfarer frame and black flats and the last, huge round sunglasses and...camel toe flats. REALLY? I decided not to let it bother me because it was Friday, the sun is shining and nothing could ruin this day but I really just can't get over it. Upon doing some research on the shoe style (unable to get the horrid picture that has been burned into my memory out of my head) I saw that NIKE, yes NIKE, has created a sneaker version of the camel toed shoe. I never thought I would see a shoe uglier then Crocs but alas, I have.
What's next... 5 toed shoes?...Wait-let me google this...

I am completely speechless...

Happy Friday and I apologize for ruining your day with this post.

XOXO

Cristina

Hotel on Rivington Opens Its Hot-tub Rooftop on Summer Sundays

"Matt Levine gives us the official word on the Hotel on Rivington rooftop: The first party will be Saturday, May 23, and after Memorial Day, the penthouse will likely open as a “fully functional lounge and event space” Wednesday through Sunday (daily parties are still being organized). As for his lobby restaurant LEVANTeast, opening in two to three weeks, a Sunday brunch is indeed being discussed. Levine isn’t yet ready to announce his chef (the menu is in the tastings stage), but tells us that his mixologist, Jamie Gordon of Absolut, is already training staff. And get ready for this, Lower East Side: Judging by the invite for the Saturday party, the rooftop is licensed to stay open till 4 a.m."-NYMAG

Finance boys smile at the Pre-Opening of Scores

Yesterday evening by promoter pal Troy notified me that the famous strip club was opening again. Last night they held their Pre-opening invite only private event. As tempted as I was to go, I passed the invite along to my male roommates that would probably appreciate it more.
The event held an open bar from 9-11 pm and free admission.
DJ's included :

DJ REACH
DJ JESSE MARCO

From the sounds of my roommates stumbling in around 2 am, it sounds like it was a success.

Prince Harry is coming to America

Prince Harry, the third in line to the British throne is headed to New York for his first formal overseas engagement outside Britain this month. This will be Harrys first visit to the United States since the death of his mother, Princess Diana.

The recently single royal heart throb is due to begin a two day visit to New York to combine fundriasing events and official functions. On May 29th, Harry will be making a trip to visit the World Trade Center site. He will attend a naming ceremony for the British Memorial Garden in Hanover Square, commemorating the British victims of the 9/11 attacks. Harry will also pay a visit to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manhattan to meet with wounded veterans and along with Lesotho's Prince Seeiso, will visit the Harlem's Children's Zone, a nonprofit organization that has been around since the 1970's.

On May 30th, the 24 year old Prince will play in a charity exhibition polo match at the 2nd Annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic on Governors Island; the first event in a series commemorating New York's 400th anniversary. The charity event will raise funds for American Friends of Sentebale, a US-based charity supporting at-risk children in Lesotho. Sentebale is a charity co-founded in 2006 by Prince Harry and Lesotho's Prince Seeiso to help the orphans of Lesotho, Africa in honor of their mothers. The public is invited to attend the charity polo match free of charge, with admission, or with VIP tickets. Tickets to the 2nd Annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic have been available since May 1st. Later that evening, an after party will be held at New York City's Pink Elephant Nightclub where a portion of sales from Veuve Clicquot will benefit American Friends of Sentebale as well.

It's looking to be a busy 2 days for the hard-partying royal hottie. I wonder if we'll see him at Pink Elephant or hanging out at New York's famous night clubs while he's in town.
Please see Cristina's other articles on the New York Examiner.

AUDRINA KISSES 24TH BIRTHDAY HELLO AT BESO

AGAIG had its eyes and ears on the Left Coast for the weekend at Audrina Patridge's 24th birthday party at Beso in West Hollywood.
The Hills star was sporting lightened locks swept back into a loose ponytail and an asymmetrical one-strap white dress that was holding on to her "enhanced" assets for dear life.  In the plus column, the dress did a fabulous job of showing off Audrina's uber dark tan. Audrina, who found fame playing with LC and Heidi in LA's nightlife playground, is now mostly famous for, well, being famous and certainly had a fittingly celeb-perfect party to ring in the big 2-4.

The festivities at Eva Longoria's Beso took place in the upstairs Kiss lounge overlooking the main dining room. Audrina and guests stopped downstairs several times to visit and take pictures with tables of friends and industry folk.  Highlights of the soiree included a custom-made "Audrina" themed drink menu featuring drinks like the "Drina-Tini" (Grey Goose, Fresh Lime, Raspberries), dishes off the Mexican-influenced menu and champagne bottles accessorized with sparklers alla Merkato 55.
The biggest surprise of the night was Justin Bobby's presence, especially since Audrina left Beso escorted by another gentleman. Justin Bobby, who looked scruffier than ever in AGAIG's opinion, left Beso before Audrina.

Love for the the Upper East Side "Prep Scene"

My first article on Dorrian's has been posted on Joonbug.
Here is a sneak peak:
"The music is a perfect mix of 80's and Top 40, and the drinks are pretty inexpensive. The one thing to know about "Club D's" or "D Harmony" ...this is the ultimate singles bar. It takes within 10 minutes for someone to offer to buy you a drink on Daddy's black card. The frat boys clean up nicely in their dapper blue blazers, and Lilly isn't someone's name but most likely what most of the ladies are wearing."

Oliver Peoples Sunglasses 50% off

Nothing screams summer like a pair of chic Oliver Peoples Sunglasses.
One of my favorite American Psycho Quotes:
Patrick Bateman: Paul Allen has mistaken me for this dickhead Marcus Halberstram. It seems logical because Marcus also works at P&P and in fact does the same exact thing I do and he also has a penchant for Valentino suits and Oliver Peoples glasses. Marcus and I even go to the same barber, although I have a slightly better haircut.

Get a pair for yourself this summer, I just ordered the pair pictured below.
